From the moment I learned the game, I wanted to understand it deeply. I dove into its history, tracing the journey of Mah Jongg from its origins in China through its transformation into the distinctly American game governed today by the National Mah Jongg League. The more I learned, the more I wanted to share.

Today I play two to three times a week with a wonderful community of players, and I practice online every single day. That daily online play led me to take on one of the most challenging and rewarding projects of my life — developing a fully playable American Mah Jongg game that follows the NMJL rules precisely. Every rule, every tile, every valid hand is built to reflect how the game is meant to be played. That game is at MahjongMarvel.com, and I hope you enjoy it.

Teaching has become just as important to me as playing. I teach American Mah Jongg several times a month at two local libraries and at The Learning Center here in Savannah, GA. I have presented seminars on the game to help players at every level understand its rules, strategy, and joy. I also developed the Practice area in my online American Mah Jongg game specifically to help people learn the game. The Practice Play section will be very useful to learn the new NMJL card. My goal is simple: to introduce as many people as possible to this remarkable game, taught correctly and played with integrity.

One thing I feel strongly about: the rules matter. American Mah Jongg is governed by the NMJL, and I teach strictly by those rules. You may have seen teachers describe themselves as "certified Mah Jongg instructors" — but it is worth knowing that there is no State or Federally recognized legal authority that certifies anyone to teach American Mah Jongg. Anyone can call themselves certified. What I offer instead is a deep commitment to teaching the game accurately, faithfully, and with genuine enthusiasm.

Thank you for visiting. I hope you have explored the game, picked up a few tiles, and maybe even found your own passion for Mah Jongg. Share it with someone. Teach a friend. Bring it to your community.

Spread the word — and may you have many Mah Jongg wins!
